Longtime Japan-American Society of Hawaii and Eyes of Hawaii member Raymond Tabata has been volunteering in the Tohoku region since the disaster. Through his many regular trips to the affected prefectures, he has watched individuals, families, and communities persevere and rebuild over the past ten years. This year, as he cannot join them in Tohoku for the anniversary, Mr. Tabata has graciously selected a series of photographs taken over his many volunteer trips that showcase the resiliency of the Tohoku communities. This series is created especially for the Japan-America Society of Hawaii. |
